1. Clean the filter
If you are using the humidifier for a long and don’t know that there is a filter in humidifier. You should take it out and clear it. After using a humidifier for a long time, you have to clear it on regular basis like once a month. If you just purchase the humidifier you should contact your vendor or look at these other factors.
2. Close the room
If you are using the humidifier in an open area there is very least chance that you get any result because in open areas the mist is going to be spread around all the places. You should try using the humidifier in a close location or if you are running it in a house you should close the windows and doors so that you can trap the mist inside

3. Mineral water
If you are using water without minerals, you may not get the desired result because the mist produced by the humidifier depends on water and the more minerals in the water, the more mist they produced. So, try using water with a high number of minerals in it because it was a proven fact that the more the minerals in the water, the mist humidifier produces.
4. Add salt/minerals
If you don’t want to use tap water, you should add a little bit of salt to it. It makes your water mineral rich and makes more mist.
